2. Confidence: You need to bleed confidence (*not to be confused with ego) so there is absolutely no question that they chose the right person who will take their production to the dang moon.
THIS is what they’re really looking for (your portfolio is simply a box to check)
But you might be thinking, “I’m already confident in my approach - as soon as I’m in the room I’m good to go” – BUTTTT your win rate tells an entirely different story.
This isn’t actually a strategy or creative issue.
This is an OPTICS and PERCEPTION issue from the other side of the table.
There are three things you’re experiencing (maybe more) that impact your client’s perception of you and their ability to see your genius for what it is:
You have a lack of information (so you edit, hold back or manipulate the things you really need to be presenting/saying in your pitch)
You’re carrying rejection baggage (which might as well be like forgetting to put on your deodorant - everyone can smell it)
Imposter syndrome is raging (even if you’re trying to hide that)
Whether one, all or more of these are present for you, they negatively impact your credibility, legitimacy and how you appear to the client
